Training
I entered training to become a Deaconess at Deaconess House in Sydney where I studied for a diploma which gave me the skills to work with people. The photo opposite was taken with Bishop Robert Davies at my ordination as a Deaconess in Tasmania.
My first parish here in Tasmania was at Burnie.

Deaconed 24th February 1986

This was a historical occasion as it was the first time women could become a Deacon in the Anglican Church. The service was held at St. David's Cathedral in Hobart.
There were three women made Deacons, Marie Kingston, Elvie Fraser and myself.

Ordained a Priest 21st December 1992
Another historical occasion when women in Tasmania were ordained to the priesthood.
The cathedral was full and only those with tickets could get in.There were 7 women and some men to be ordained this day. Balloons were let go and they went to the ceiling of the cathedral of St. David's.
